Discover what Breaks Relationships

Often  times I wonder what exactly went wrong, when blooming relationships wither, when bonds are broken when hatred creeps in. There are definitely so many reasons when such happens. Just as I was racking for answers deep in thoughts, some possible causes came to mind- bitterness, accumulated anger and unforgiveness. Age long relationships turn sour, when healthy communication no longer exists, when parties hold deep grudges against each other, and such grudge must have been  accumulated.

In life, it gets to a point when an individual can no longer slack. He or she has reached the limit, they can bear or ignore things. When we keep treating loved ones in hurtful ways, and you get to be forgiven, don't forget that it will come to a time when they reach their limit, and everything they'll claim can be justified. We most times forget to understand that as you have your feelings, your boundaries, the extent to which you can tolerate, so does the other person. And believe me, that person's own might even be worst than yours.

If you value long term relationships, that is; relationships that have come a very long way, like your marriage and family, then you should play your card very well.

  • The relationship is not just about you, understand this: self-centred attitudes have ruined so many blossoming relationships. Be considerate in every of your actions. Sometimes it's not all about love. There are times love would not be an option, because you must have lost all the love you once had, but commitment and consideration should help you empathise in all situations. Just be humane, what you feel is what the other person feels too. You are hungry, he is hungry too. He can get angry, you can get angry too. Know that what would hurt you would hurt the other party/ person. If you won't eat that food, don't expect the other person to. If you know something would make you comfortable, yes, that same thing should the other person comfortable too.
  • Being sorry might not be enough, you should show it too. After you have realised that you have offended someone, you'll probably apologise and feel bad about what has been been done, but sincerely that is not enough. To say sorry is easy, but to show you are sorry is more difficult. Proving that one is truly sorry is a hard dice. A man who is caught  cheating on is wife and says he is sorry, if he truly is, he would try not to cheat again. Not the case of trying not to be caught. So the problem that might break long term relationships is not being able to show in actions how sorry you are.
  • Two wrongs will never make a right, it will only complicate issues and escalate problems.
  • Hard but helpful: two parties or people should never get angry at a time. Be the cool one to be able to tackle the issue at the spot, it won't make you ugly or dull but the contrary.
Keep this in mind: Value who you have now,  else you will lose them. And when you do you'll wish you have them but then you have lost them, you'll be so lonely and regretful. That's why I say value them.
