Being Desperate comes with its good and bad side, however the thing one is desperate about has a major consensus as to whether its profitability or loss is possible. Desperation may be motivated by lack, envy, or the need to achieve self actualization and sustain it. When there is lack of a means to achieve such, then desperation creeps in. Take for instance, you see a fellow who has an SUV and you are still riding on a rickety motorcycle, and probably that individual was once on the same class as you are, there is this natural awakening or let’s say feelings that would sensitize you to want to upgrade to a higher level. This is very normal. When we say desperation is when that normality develops to a certain kind of hunger or a higher form of desire, which you would want to do anything to get a car. Now that’s desperation on its simplest form.
One peculiar thing to this feeling is that it can be channeled to either a positive or negative energy. What this implies is desperation can be used to achieve both what is good and bad. Many scholars and laypersons would argue that desperation always ends in a bad way, because once one is desperate, a bad energy is involved as one may take to any means possible not minding the consequence. A school of thought argues that an action must be good and moral on its face value, it points to the fact that desperation comes with a negative energy, because even if the consequence is good the method may have been bad, and if the method is good, the consequence could be unpalatable. And on the other hand, another school of thought known as the teleologists believes that an action is considered good and moral if the consequence is good.
With a positive energy, desperation could drive a man to achieve self actualization. Self actualization is the destination fine, but the thing is the route to each destination. A man who steals to gain wealth gains wealth but has stolen, so do we forget the means? Desperation is an issue of great controversy. Because if the destination is positive, the route should be too. Whether one is desperate or not, every action on its face value must be positive and its consequence too.
