What is holding Nigerians back??

I was scrolling through my endless contacts on my Whatsapp list (boredom actually caused it), then I stumbled on a display picture that caught my attention for few minutes (I even went ahead to save it).
I starred at this picture and pondered on the write-up and I said to myself, Africa is even too big; what exactly is making things difficult in this country?? What is the main reason for the delay in the positive change? Now let’s ask ourselves- What exactly is holding the children of Nigeria back?? Could it be?
According to a pocket English dictionary, religion is a particular system of faith and worship; it can also be the belief in and worship of a God or gods. Nigeria as a country has three main kinds of religion and they are Christian religion, Islamic religion and Traditional religion. Aside these main religions, other religious sect are also dominate in Nigeria. For example;  Eckankar, Harekrishna, Jehovah witness and more.
It has also been shown that the main kinds of religion are divided within. For example; Christian religion is divided into Orthodox (Baptists, Catholics, Anglicans) and Pentecostal (Winners, Redeemed etc) Christians. Islamic religion also has the Sunni Muslims, Shi’ite muslims, Ahmadiyyas, Sufis amongst others while Traditional religion has different gods according to culture and geographical location. From the above description of what religion is, it is obvious that every human belongs to a religious group and these religious groups have their different ideologies, pattern of worship etcetera.
Wikipedia defines religious fanaticism as uncritical zeal with an obsessive enthusiasm relating to one’s own, one’s group , devotion to a religion. Fanatics are extremist, they are adamant to accepting any idea or policy contrary to their belief undermining the person or group introducing the idea. Religion shapens our thoughts, ideas and actions and been a fanatic of this can be a threat to your immediate environment and the country at large.Change is something that begins from oneself and whatever is foremost in the mind of an individual certainly influences whatever decision is made by the individual. In Nigeria, major conflicts have been narrowed down to religious differences and trust me religious fanatics are the ones who would initiate this.  So now here’s something for us….If we have this much religious groups and we have 40% fanatics in each group, what will become of Nigeria?
